| The Rapid wins "Outstanding Transit System
Award", Monday,October 18,federal, state, and local officials
joined The Rapid Board, Staff, transit supporters, passengers
for a local presentation of the Outstanding Transit System Award,
given annually by the American Public Transportation Association
(APTA) , Bill Hander, APTA's Executive Director was on hand
to make the award presentation. |
| Growing Achievement equals National Recognition |
| The Rapid officially received the award at APTA's
annual meeting held in early October in Atlanta, Georgia. Four
awards are given out annually, based on the number of passenger
trips a system provides.The Rapid is in the"4.30 million
trips" category, along with cities such as Tampa, Ela,
Louisville,Ky and Richmond. |
| Great Pride for a Great Community |
| "We are so pleased and proud to bring this
award home to the greated Grand Rapids area", commented
Peter Varga, executive director and CEO of the Rapid. Competing
against our peers and being judged the best is a wonderful honor,
